Contract Concluded with I-Wind (Inter Far East Wind International Co., Ltd.) of Thailand

The Furukawa Battery Co., Ltd. (main office: Yokohama, Kanagawa; President: Katsutoshi Tokuyama; "Furukawa Battery" hereafter) held a ceremony to celebrate its conclusion of a contract (sales agreement) with I-WIND (a wind power generation company in Thailand) for Furukawa Battery's cutting edge UltraBattery technology.
The energy storage system, planned to begin operating in July 2017, will be the first such project in Thailand.
I-WIND selected Furukawa Battery's UltraBattery (a cycle-use long service life type capacitor hybrid control valve style stationary lead-acid battery) from several competing products based on the evaluation of Thailand's Chulalongkorn University and MTEC (National Metal and Material Technology Center).

This will be used as an energy storage system combined with wind power generation. Solar and wind power generation continues to expand rapidly as the renewable energy sector develops in Thailand and throughout Asia, and the use of energy storage systems together with such technologies in order to reach a balance between power demand and supply has recently been drawing much attention
